We’ve Been Here Before And Here We Are Now…An Online Health Series About Pandemics and Vaccines

During the early months of 2021, we joined with our partner libraries in Leavenworth and Atchison counties to explore historically relevant health topics. Recordings of the programs are all available online. (Links included in the paragraph below)

In the first program, in partnership with the National WWI Museum and Memorial, we learned how the country dealt with the 1918 Flu Pandemic. In the second program, we explored how mass vaccinations eradicated polio in the U.S. in the 1950s, and the continuing work of Rotary International around the world. In the final program of the series, we presented a panel of experts discussing the goal of conquering Covid-19 with mass vaccinations. The information about the virus and the vaccines has been confusing since the pandemic began over a year ago. Our panel of experts shared the latest information on the vaccine rollout in Kansas and explained the medical concerns with the virus and the vaccine.

Stay tuned for a new series this fall on current health related topics.

Libraries partnering in this series are Basehor Community Library, Atchison Public Library, Bonner Springs Library, Lansing Library, Leavenworth Public Library, Linwood Community Library, and Tonganoxie Public Library.
