Basehor Community Library is embarking on an interview collection project, inspired by StoryCorps, to record and preserve the stories of community members. We want to offer our community the opportunity to share and preserve personal stories on video, assuring your stories will not be forgotten.

The chance to record an interview for “We All Have a Story” is also a chance to ask someone you know about their life. Individuals can bring in a friend, colleague, or loved one to interview. Or you can choose to be interviewed yourself; to tell your own story. For 20 minutes, you can talk about whatever you want. We can provide the questions or you can come prepared with your own questions or story.

The library is working with the assistance of the Tady Brothers Productions who will handle all things technical. At the end of your conversation, you’ll receive a free video recording on a flash drive to share with family and friends. The library will not keep a copy of your recording.

Participation is free and open to anyone. Recordings will take place on:

Tuesday, August 13 – 9:00 – 3:00
Wednesday, August 21 – 5:00 – 8:00
Thursday, August 22 – 4:00 – 8:00
Saturday, August 24 – 9:00 – 3:00

You must register ahead of time to reserve your spot.

Registration begins August 5. You can register at the library front desk or by calling 913-724-2828. Once you have registered, you will receive a Participation Package with detailed information, including suggested questions.

Still undecided? Inquire at the library front desk for more information. Or contact Janice at jgarcia@100.26.176.2 with any questions.
